Wow.

Do you guys know what I hate most about fandom? Like, what really gets on my fucking nerves and makes me mad enough to boil puppies?

Now, you’re probably expecting me to say fangirls, or obnoxious behaviour, or people who lack manners, or judgemental people form outside the fandom.

Nope. 

It’s the flogging of dead equine creatures after every tiny thing that happens.

I come here to look at pictures and hear cute stories about the things I enjoy. Not to read pages upon pages of preaching and ranting. I realise this could be construed as ranting but I have reached the end of my tether here and need to get this out. 

So Darren tried to do something fun last night. It didn’t work out. People seem to have wildly exaggerated the extent of what happened though. From what I gather there are two accounts; one says there was rioting; the other claims it was just a bit over zealous and couldn’t be managed well enough to do the sing-along. I know which I believe. Simply because tumblr exaggerates everything. Ever. 

I have read rants about fans trying to kill Darren. I mean, really. Get a grip. 

But that’s all there is to it. No one died. No one’s career is ruined. Darren doesn’t hate everyone now. I have been involved in a few fandoms over the years. This shit happens. Then it blows over. But not before everyone drives me nuts with their crazy analyses and extrapolations. If you just stfu about it the whole thing would go away.

Darren is doing very very well on Broadway. The fan accounts (the measured, non-flaily) which I have read seem to be delighted by his performance. Outlets like Billboard and Broadway World gave great reviews in my opinion. They cited some difficulties concerning volume but I gather that has been improving over the course of the run. His dancing and acting were praised hugely. Now, EW and that crazy bitch were negative. They are entitled to dislike his performance. That is allowed. But I don’t think they were very fair in all honesty. EW slated things we know to be good; dancing, comedic timing etc. That other woman cited the affair rumours with RM and bashed on fans. Credibility shot to hell as far as I’m concerned. Her first sentence stated that “she really tried to like Darren Criss”. A sure sign she did no such thing. She claimed his routines were easier than DanRad’s. Not true and Darren had two weeks to learn them so…yeah. Listen, Broadway reviews are usually scathing. It’s damn hard to get a good one. DanRad got a lot of bad bad bad reviews before he got into his stride. The fact that Darren got largely positive reviews from the outlets that bothered to be objective (and they were or else they wouldn’t have criticised his projection) is fucking amazing considering he had two weeks to rehearse. The producers, his co-stars and random observers like Oliver Platt have said wonderful things about him. So yay it’s all good. 

Yeah, some fans dress up and get a little crazy. But so did DanRad’s fans. It’s to be expected when you hire guys like these. And tbh most people are saying that the audience are generally respectful. People just get way too uptight around here sometimes. You’re forgetting that Darren is an old-school fanboy. He knows what’s up. 

He’s having the time of his life up there. He is doing a great job and making everyone proud. All the negativity around here is just stopping us from enjoying this as much as he is. 

So please, pretty pictures and fun accounts of fan-encounters for the rest of the run?

darren criss in which I lose it I just had to say this tumblr is miserable at times like the fucking gestapo except worse because you lynch people with absolutely no idea what happened I mean really fun police bet dc ain't stressin' chill you all annoy me immensely at times take a deep breath
